Have you ever watched the things that all great rollers have in common? Each player has their own unique setup, grip, and putter. Jack Nicklaus' setup was open - Great putter. Tiger's setup is square - Great puttter. Golfers have won with the claw, split hand, single, double, triple overlap with short putters, blades, hosels, mallets, and one's they anchor into their chest. Even the tempo of the strokes are different but which ever tempo that is, it's consistent. This consistency in their unique tempo is a major component to rolling the ball with the right speed in order to give yourself the best opportunities to sink your putts. Once you have found a putter you like with a comfortable length, you're ready to start making more putts. |
It's important to know how to read your green when you arrive. The first video on Green Reading 101 will give you a basic approach to the lay of the land. From this point, you're better able to anticipate the last 3 feet of your putt and from there, Finding Your Line. When you know your line you can begin Aiming Your Putt, and finding an intermediate target between 6" and 8" from your ball. With the best understanding of the Speed, Distance, or Weight of your putt, you will find your ball falling into the cup more frequenty. |
